We’re Home!!

We brought Charlie home from the NICU two weeks ago and things have been going great!  He’s a fabulous eater and gained five ounces in just two days!  We have all been enjoying being home with him and his big brother and sister are totally in love.  It’s been pretty awesome.

All of this means I am also booking spring portrait sessions!  I have one (possibly two) more spots in April and  three in May, so contact me ASAP if you’d like to get your family photos done. 🙂

Blog Circle: Discovery

I am participating in a blog circle with some photographer friends of mine and this week’s theme is ‘discovery’.  Since I spent the majority of time at the NICU with my youngest, my subject choice is limited.  So here is little Charlie ‘discovering’ hunger — this was the first day he was ‘ad lib’ feeding, which means instead of getting fed every three hours, on schedule, he is now eating whenever he is hungry.  I am breastfeeding, but sometimes it wears him out and we need to top him off with a little bottle feeding.  This is also the first time Daddy fed him (a bit of re-discovering going on there too).

Baby Charlie

I’ve announced this on my facebook page already, but in case you missed it, my third baby decided to really throw us for a loop.  After a very scary pregnancy (I was diagnosed with a placenta abruption) that had me in and out of the hospital for weeks at a time, my little guy decided he wasn’t going to put his faith in my failing placenta and was born on February 4th — at 29 weeks.  He weighed just 3lbs, 5oz.

He has done remarkably well, but he will be in the NICU for a while.  It’s already been three weeks and I’m guessing it will be about another three weeks before he can come home.  I have been spending every day up at the hospital, so things at Erin Farrell Photography have been put on the back burner for now.  I will return calls and emails when I can and orders may be delayed in getting out.  I hope everyone understands that my priorities have shifted during this time.

Here are some pictures of my amazing little guy, Charlie.

Jess - He’s beautiful! Congratulations and all the best…

kristin M - As a former NICU nurse I know these scenes all to well but they so rarely get documented beautifully like you have. Stimulation is so traumatizing to a premie. I can see you are being gentle with him. Congratulations. Enjoy the Kanagaroo care and all the time you can get with him imprinting him.

Kayode Okeyode - Congrats 🙂

Hope you get to bring the little guy home soon.

Donna H - He is so precious. Congratulations!

Amber - He is so adorable, I love his tiny little outift and hat, he is truly a fighter….my neice was born at 28 weeks weighing just under 3 pounds and she did remarkable, she’s 4 years old now and the sweetest and smartest little thing ever. Its amazing what can be achived with faith, love and the amazing advances in medicine. Hope the little guy stays healthy and gets to go home soon.
