This too-cute-for-words couple had an amazing wedding day at a gorgeous private home in Smyrna.  Jerrod and Kim are both vegans and wanted a very earth-friendly wedding and I have to say, they pulled it off in a big way!  Every little detail was so thought out.  I think I’m going to do a whole post dedicated to that.  In the meantime, here is your sneak peek!

You just KNOW it’s going to be a good wedding when a couple is sporting these:

Having your photographer find one of these right before your ceremony starts doesn’t hurt either.  ;)  (after I snapped a picture, I picked it and ran it over to Kim).

I just love this little adoring look they were giving each other during the toast.

I was so excited to see that Kim had a second dress to change into for the reception.  Even more excited to see that she brought her very own hula hoop!

This lovely family was the winner of my facebook contest a while back.  And I’d be willing to bet that the phrase “well, at least we didn’t have to pay for it” got mentioned in some form on the drive home.  ;)     Baby B did NOT want to smile — at all.  I don’t think I’ve ever met an 8 month old baby who wouldn’t smile for me.  And little C . . . well, he had his own agenda and it didn’t involve me or anything I was trying to talk to him about.  Thank goodness for big brother, A!  He’s just an all-around great kid.   I photographed Mom and Dad’s wedding three years ago and I love seeing how much their family has grown.  Andrew was born when they were only sixteen years old and it is a beautiful to see that they are still together and are such awesome parents.  :)

Rest assured, you guys, I did get some great shots! :)

Cutest. Family.  Ever.

I am SOOOOO far behind on blog posts!  My computer was at the doctor’s for most of the last week and to say I was lost without it is an understatement.  (Although, I have to admit, even though I didn’t get any editing done, I am a MUCH better mother and cleaner without the computer around).  But it’s back now, so here is two quick ones from my session last weekend.  These two little darlings are cousins, but could totally pass for twins!  You might recognize little K from her baby sister’s newborn session a couple of weeks ago or from her two year old session or from any of the other numerous times I photographed her during the first year of her life.  I love being able to document a family growing over the years.  And little Miss K and I are totally best buds now. :)

I met up with the wonderful M family on Saturday in Odessa.  It was crazy hot and not only did we have to deal with bugs, we also came across a SNAKE and a dead mouse!  Gross.  But this family was unfazed by it all — you can tell there is so much love in this family for each other.  :)

This time it was my turn to photograph the lovely Beira’s family.  I was so excited to meet her son – I’ve seen so many pictures of those big blue eyes and gorgeous smile!  The weather was perfect and we found some really neat little places to shoot in.  Of course, we were only about five minutes into the session when Micah took a tumble.

But after a little cuddling from Mom (and some fruit snacks), he was good as new.  Besides some images of the whole family, Beira also wanted some shots of her and Micah.  These are my favorite types of shots — you can practically hear the laughter and feel the love between these two.

My Family Session

June 12, 2010

When you’re a photographer, you may have great shots of your kids, but unfortunately, Mommy rarely is seen in front of the camera.  Fortunately, I have many great photographer friends who are always willing to do a session swap.  A couple weeks ago, I was the one stressing over what to dress the family in and I was so undecided that I actually bought Molly two different shirts, CJ got a new pair of shorts AND a new pair of jeans and my husband now owns three more polo shirts.  But, it was all worth it in the end, because my good friend Beira captured some AWESOME images of my family.

It was actually fun being on the other side of the camera and surprisingly, I had a pretty easy time “letting go” and letting Beira tell me where to go and what to do.  I did have a little tea party set-up that I wanted to do though.  My husband thought I was a little crazy for a.)having CJ participate in a tea party and b.)having someone else photograph it.  But I didn’t want to have to deal with keeping the kids happy AND getting everything set up and taking the pictures.  It was easier to just worry about the kids and not the actual picture-taking.  And CJ LOVES tea parties.  Especially ones where there are plates of food.  I swear, I think he had more fun than Molly.  He happily shoved graham crackers in his mouth while rocking back and forth going “mmmmm . . . . . mmmmmm”

Thanks again Beira!  It warms my heart to look at these.  I hope I got some ones of you and your family tonight that make you just as happy. :)

This little beauty is the daughter of one of my 2009 couples.  It was so awesome to see them as parents to such a sweet baby girl.

What a pleasure it was meeting the newest member of the ‘S’ Family.  Little Miss Aly was the tiniest little thing – just under 6 pounds at three weeks!  She came a bit early (brave Momma even drove herself to the hospital!), so she did spend some time in the NICU, but she is doing great now.  :)

I’ve been sneaking away anytime I’ve gotten a chance today to finish up this blog post (mostly when Molly & CJ were entranced by Sesame Street).  I just had so many images that I liked, I was having a hard time narrowing down which ones I wanted to post!

Mike and Darcy’s wedding was hot.  HOT.  As in, my-make-up-sweated-off-and-ran-into-my-eyes-and-burned-them hot.  And did I mention, it was all outdoors?  But you know what?  I don’t think I saw either of them sweat all day.  Seriously.  I don’t know how they did it, but I think it may have had sometime to do with how in love they are.  They simply adore each other and it’s obvious the very second you meet them.

Darcy’s dress was perfect for her garden ceremony at Brookside Botanical Gardens in Silver Spring, MD.

This is my second wedding in a row where the bride and groom decided to see each other before the ceremony.  I love when couples do this — it adds a whole extra special part of the day.

We found the most awesome tree!

I totally cried when Mike started crying.  It was such a beautiful ceremony.

There were so many amazing details.  I had so much fun capturing all the little touches.
