Allison and Sean had amazing weather for their wedding day!  After a long streak of crazy hot Saturdays, we finally got a gorgeous one!  Allison was a gorgeous bride!  She is a bit on the reserved side and there were times you could tell she just didn’t feel that comfortable being the center of attention . . . but when her and Sean were together . . . .she was all smiles and nothing else in the world mattered.

Congratulations you guys!  Have a wonderful honeymoon!

I have a confession to make.  A few months ago, I started to second guess my desire to photograph weddings.  When I first started this business, I was recently engaged and in the throws of wedding planning so photographing weddings made sense.  I loved getting new ideas and talking with brides about their weddings plans.  But lately, my life is more about potty training, babyfood making and discipline tips and less about bridesmaid drama, centerpieces and flower colors.

At some point during Nikki and Chris’s wedding, I was reminded that weddings are more about a marriage and the start of a family than bridesmaid dress colors.  And I feel so incredibly honored to have the pleasure of documenting that amazing day for couples.   Nikki and Chris are such a fun-loving couple and you can tell that they truly enjoy spending time together.  Thank you for allowing me to spend the day with you! :)

To say it was hot was an understatement.  It was SWELTERING on Mike and Christine’s wedding day.  And the bus they had booked to transport their whole bridal party had no air conditioning.  NONE.  But besides taking me up on my offer to drive them in my air conditioned car, they didn’t let it get them down.

Congratulations guys!  It was wonderful spending the day with you.  Thanks for understanding about all the crushed Cheerio’s in my car.  ;)

Back-logged blog

July 24, 2010

Things have been crazy busy around here so I’ve been majorly slacking in the blogging department.  So here’s a sneak peek to some sneak peeks!  Did you follow that?

Coming up soon on the blog:

Casey and Matt’s nature engagement session:

Christine and Mike’s wedding:

Newborn session with my best friends 3rd baby boy,  Jacob.

Nikki and Chris’s center city wedding:

This too-cute-for-words couple had an amazing wedding day at a gorgeous private home in Smyrna.  Jerrod and Kim are both vegans and wanted a very earth-friendly wedding and I have to say, they pulled it off in a big way!  Every little detail was so thought out.  I think I’m going to do a whole post dedicated to that.  In the meantime, here is your sneak peek!

You just KNOW it’s going to be a good wedding when a couple is sporting these:

Having your photographer find one of these right before your ceremony starts doesn’t hurt either.  ;)  (after I snapped a picture, I picked it and ran it over to Kim).

I just love this little adoring look they were giving each other during the toast.

I was so excited to see that Kim had a second dress to change into for the reception.  Even more excited to see that she brought her very own hula hoop!

I’ve been sneaking away anytime I’ve gotten a chance today to finish up this blog post (mostly when Molly & CJ were entranced by Sesame Street).  I just had so many images that I liked, I was having a hard time narrowing down which ones I wanted to post!

Mike and Darcy’s wedding was hot.  HOT.  As in, my-make-up-sweated-off-and-ran-into-my-eyes-and-burned-them hot.  And did I mention, it was all outdoors?  But you know what?  I don’t think I saw either of them sweat all day.  Seriously.  I don’t know how they did it, but I think it may have had sometime to do with how in love they are.  They simply adore each other and it’s obvious the very second you meet them.

Darcy’s dress was perfect for her garden ceremony at Brookside Botanical Gardens in Silver Spring, MD.

This is my second wedding in a row where the bride and groom decided to see each other before the ceremony.  I love when couples do this — it adds a whole extra special part of the day.

We found the most awesome tree!

I totally cried when Mike started crying.  It was such a beautiful ceremony.

There were so many amazing details.  I had so much fun capturing all the little touches.

The rain held off (thanks to Caitlynn’s guardian angel) and it ended up being a PERFECT day!  Ceremony was held at Pell Gardens in Chesapeake City, MD and the reception was at the Chesapeake Inn.

Add some homemade chocolate chip cookies and you’ve got yourself quite a snack!

Caitlynn was such a dedicated bride, she even okay’d a hair trim just to get her hair style perfect.

Robbie and Caitlynn opted to see each other before the ceremony which worked out great!  We had so much time for pictures.  Plus, it’s just so fun to set up the ‘first look’.

There’s a whole lotta love in this picture.

Congratulations guys!  Have a great time on your honeymoon :)

This has been an amazing year for me, both personally and professionally.  I have an amazing, supportive husband, two incredibly cute kids, a loving family and so many wonderful friends that I have a hard time finding time to catch up with everyone!

So, in the spirit of the holidays, I’d like to give a little something back.

You know someone. You know someone who’s experienced a tragedy, is struggling to stay afloat, is raising kids while holding down more than one job, or is volunteering selflessly despite extenuating personal circumstances. You know someone who can’t afford custom photography, but who would cherish it this holiday season. You know someone who deserves a year-round reminder of their family’s spirit, love, and beauty.

You know someone. I guarantee it.

I want to know who they are, and I want to give them the chance to experience complimentary custom photography — $725 worth, to be exact. Whether it’s canvas or albums, prints for Grandma, or a slideshow to watch over and over, it’s in your power to give them the artwork they deserve this holiday season.

Oh, and the best part? The person who nominates the winner receives a free session and a $50 print credit (valued at $175). What better reason to show some love could there possibly be, people?

The rules:

* You cannot nominate yourself, and the person nominated must sincerely be incapable of purchasing my services. (Being unable to make mortgage payments for a two-million-dollar-vacation-home in Paris does not qualify as sincere financial need.)

* The nominee must reside within 50 miles of Smyrna, Delaware.  Tell me who you know, what they’re experiencing, and why they deserve my artwork. Please include a way to contact both your nominee and yourself as well.

* You must e-mail me the full story bynoon December 24, 2009 : erin@erinfarrellphotography.com

The winner will be announced on New Years Day – get nominating! I can’t wait to read all of your entries!

Open your heart to someone this holiday season — and thanks for giving me the opportunity to open mine.

With love,

Erin

Friday ended up being a great day for Kim and Brian’s wedding!   It was so nice to be out shooting weddings again.

Mom played triple duty as mother of the bride, maid of honor and make-up artist.

Gorgeous, right?

I was laughing so hard watching the groomsmen try to pin their boutineers on.  This was one funny group of guys!

There were so many great places to shoot at Radley Run.

I love how happy they both look here.  I think this may be one of my favorite shots from the day.

Emotional toast from Mom.

And an even more emotional speech from the bride.

A steamy dance to end the evening.

Congratulations guys!  I’ll be posting these and even more images from the day on my facebook page — so be sure to become a fan so you can see them!

Laura has been an amazing source of referrals over the last year so I was really excited about shooting her wedding this weekend.  And it was nothing short of amazing.  The weather was perfect, Laura and Dan looked gorgeous and everything went off without a hitch.

I have to send a HUGE thank you to Carina of Remember This Day Events who did a phenomenal job keeping the day running smoothly.   And another HUGE thank you to Beth of Elizabeth Crook Photography who second shot with me for the day.  You guys were awesome!!!

A toast before leaving the house.

I get the prettiest brides.  Ever.

My grooms aren’t too shabby either. ;)

Off to the reception at the beautiful Radisson Plaza Warwick Hotel!

The Jack Faulkner Orchestra had the dance floor packed from the first song.  It was insane on the dance floor pretty much all night.

They had a yummy candy bar that Carina couldn’t even get set up before people were trying to get at it!  This shot cracks me up because the adults are digging in while the kids patiently waiting in line.

I thought this one was so sweet.  They had the band play Laura’s parent’s first dance song.

As always, become a facebook fan of Erin Farrell Photography to see even more images from Laura & Dan’s big day!
